Proverbs

A Proverb is defined as: A short, pithy statement of a general truth, one that condenses common experience into memorable form. Or, as defined by Miguel de Cervantes, "a short sentence based on a long experience."

Below is a list of common proverbs.  You are to familiarize yourself with the list and then select one proverb for each of the eight books you would like to prepare for your free response essay.

This assignment will be recorded in a packet given to you in class.

Consider the following titles when selecting your eight:

The Great Gatsby
Hamlet
Anthem
Night
Dawn
Of Mice and Men
The Catcher in the Rye
Lord of the Flies
Macbeth
Brave New World
Animal Farm
Huck Finn
The Scarlet Letter
The Crucible
To Kill a Mockingbird
